CTS Pro Level Coach

My passion for cycling began in 1984 after watching Team USA in the LA Olympic Games. My coaching career evolved from racing and Team management.

Racing in the amateur ranks for 20 years gave me a solid understanding of the demands of the sport, but it’s the access I’ve had to Pro Cycling that has taught how to be a coach.

My first opportunity to work in Pro Cycling was in 1989 with the Wheaties Schwinn Cycling Team. Then I had three great years working with Chris Carmichael at USA cycling, three years with the Coors Lite Cycling Team, and finally seven years at the helm of the Volvo/Cannondale Pro MTB Team.

In 2004, I founded and operated a cycling performance center in Northern California. In 2006 I co-founded Continuum Sports, the management company of the BMC Pro Cycling Team, which I am still involved with today. I started coaching with CTS in 2011.

I’ve had and continue to have access to the best coaches and cyclists in the world and now I have the privilege of using 30 years of knowledge and experience to coach cyclists here at Carmichael Training Systems.

Of all of the positions I’ve held in cycling, none gives me more pleasure than coaching. The ability to change people’s lives gives me great satisfaction.
