CTS Expert Coach – Specializes In Ultrarunning Coaching

“I believe the most successful athletes are the ones who find joy and fulfillment in their running by balancing training, racing, and life. Quality, not the quantity of workouts, will improve each athlete’s fitness, but not at the expense of losing that all-important social, emotional, and physiological balance.”

Coach Bio:

I have been coaching ultrarunners since 2018 and joined CTS in 2021. I grew up playing baseball and football and enjoyed a brief stint of playing college football before injuries forced me to end my playing career in 2010. I quickly turned to running to satisfy my athletic and goal-setting temperament and found ultrarunning a few years later. Several coaches I played for growing up had a lasting impact on my life by emphasizing work ethic and building relationships over wins and losses. I bring that same philosophy to the athletes I work with. It is my job as the coach to do everything I can to prepare the athlete for the physical demands of their goal event. But those goals cannot be fully achieved without building a relationship where communication is open, honest, and consistent.

Before turning to coaching full-time, I was a middle school PE and Social Studies teacher for 9 years. Working with middle schoolers could be quite the rollercoaster, but much like ultrarunning, it was a gratifying experience in the end. I currently live in Tennessee and understand the unique demands of training for mountainous ultras when limited by geography. I personally have run and coached numerous athletes with limited access to mountains that have had successful races at Bighorn 100, Leadville 100, CCC 100k, and San Juan Solstice 50.
