I have been a full time professional coach for 10 years and have been involved in endurance sports for since 1990. In the mid 1990’s I competed as an elite amateur mountain bike racer. I earned a BA in Exercise Science from the University of Northern Colorado and a MS in Exercise Physiology from Kansas State University. Between periods of education, I served as an officer in the U.S. Army for four and a half years. With five years of work at CTS followed by five years as a National Team coach for U.S. Paralympic Cycling I bring a very broad and extensive experience back to CTS. Riding my bike is still a very important part of my life and given the choice, I would prefer to be riding on dirt. While at home, I enjoy fly fishing, cooking and spending time with my wife and our son.
I believe in coaching the whole athlete and that means more than training programs and analyzing data from those programs. In order to help athletes succeed I take the time to get to know them as an athlete and a person. I need to understand how life and training interact differently for each athlete and help them balance that interaction. My broad coaching experience means that I have the potential to help a wide variety of athletes; cyclists (road, mountain, cross, track), triathletes, runners, motorsports, and even team sports improve and succeed.
As a CTS Coach, I excel at personal coaching, training camps, private camps, race strategy (including warm up, pre hydration/nutrition), race day support crew for any endurance sport as well as motorsports. I am also skilled in LT/VO2 testing, bike fit and conditioning for team sports and climbing.« Back to all coaches
