I began pursuing my passion for endurance sports as a cross-country ski racer, competing from childhood through college. Skiing took me from my home town of Colorado Springs, CO to Duluth, MN where I trained as an elite amateur athlete year round, ski racing in the winter and cross-training through cycling and triathlon in the summer. I also completed a B.A.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Recognizing the limited opportunities available in the skiing world, I pursued coaching and started working with CTS in 2005. I’ve since completed an MSc degree in Biomechanics and moved to California to establish a regional training center in the Santa Ynez Valley. I enjoy riding road and mountain bikes and try to race both a few times each year. When I’m not coaching or riding, you’ll find me exploring the mountains and coastlines of the golden state.
I’ve worked as a full-time coach for CTS since 2005. Most of my time is spent coaching athletes, from elite competitors to recreational enthusiasts, and providing the support, inspiration, and guidance they need to achieve their goals. I’ve worked with a variety of sports over the years, primarily with road cyclists and mountain bikers, but also CX racers, Ironman triathletes, runners, cross-country skiers, motorsports drivers, and a smattering of other athletes. With most of my life and education dedicated to the pursuit of success in endurance sports, I know I have the experience and knowledge to help any athlete make the most of his or her potential. Achieving success in sport goes beyond training plans, which is why nutrition, lifestyle factors, and careers are all considered when developing a coach-athlete relationship. I coach in many of our Santa Ynez training camps throughout the year, and also provide 3D bike fits, physiology lab tests, and private training camps.
Through years of experience and education, I have become an expert in endurance sport coaching. I fully utilize power meters, GPS units and heart-rate monitors and take detailed technical concepts and explain them in simple terms. My master’s thesis focused on 3D bike fitting systems and I have designed and taught physiology testing protocols. I’ve competed and coached across a spectrum of endurance disciplines and events, giving me perspective on almost any goal event.« Back to all coaches
