Grand Fondo Hincapie Recon Camp – Brevard, NC

September 26-28, 2013

The Gran Fondo Hincapie began in the fall of 2012 to celebrate the career of a great American cyclist, George Hincapie.  In conjunction with this great event Carmichael Training Systems is the sports science partner of the BMC/Hincapie U-23 program.  Together these groups have formed up to offer an early look at the up-coming Grand Fondo routes.  Highlights of the route include Skyuka Mountain, Howard Gap, and Green River Cove climbs. All of which are very challenging yet extremely beautiful climbs.

Your time at camp will be spent with the Brevard coaching staff pre riding either the Medio or Gran Fondo routes (pending on ability of rider) followed by more riding and climbing from our offices in Brevard on day 2. Finally the coaches will recommend which length will be most appropriate for you going into the 2013 event!

Brevard, North Carolina is one of the top vacation destinations on the East Coast, and for good reason.  Situated just east of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and adjacent to the Pisgah National Forest, Brevard is the gateway to thousands of acres of outdoor playground. And with a wide variety of restaurants, fine hotels, and cultural and natural sights and events throughout the year, Brevard is a great place to come for a weekend, a week, or the rest of your life.

Further, Asheville is just as stones throw away. Known for its beautiful mountains, abundant outdoor activities and rich local history Asheville has been named One of the Top Ten Outdoor Towns (Outside Magazine, 2002) and one of the 10 Great Adventure towns in 2004 (National Geographic Adventure)..

Temperatures in September can vary from 45-70 degrees at mid-day, and fall rains are likely.  Please come prepared to ride in all weather conditions.
