Ultrarunning Camp Focused On Big Miles, Big Vertical And Event Day Preparation
Join CTS Coaches in Colorado Springs, CO for a high mileage, big vertical trail running camp that you will not forget. Colorado Springs makes an ideal location for high altitude running in the early season due to its terrain, weather and location.
This camp is a great opportunity for any trail runner to get their season started on the right foot. We will incorporate skill work, provide training tips and tricks, and accumulate big miles. Come build some community and meet friends for a lifetime while sharpening your fitness for the rest of the season. The last day of the camp will be a challenging 40-50k run through beautiful mountain trails in the shadows of Pikes Peak.
This camp is fully supported with aid stations and the CTS coaching staff. To ensure every athlete gets the coaching they deserve, this camp will have limited spots available.

Camp Itinerary
DAY 1
CHECK-IN DAY - 5/24/2024
Check In Time: 5:00pm
Where: CTS Athlete House
Description: Arrive at the CTS Athlete House, and get checked in with our coaching staff and enjoy a CTS catered dinner, introductions, and welcome presentation.
Special note on the routes: Each day, we will break the athletes up into separate groups based on ability level. Each group will be out on the trails for about the same amount of time but will do slight variations of the route.
DAY 2
Bear Creek
Mileage: 15-20 mile
Elevation Gain: 1000-3500 ft
Time Range: 3-5 hrs
Brief Run Description: Departing from the CTS Office, we will transport athletes to Bear Creek to warm-up before doing some tempo reps up High Drive, a popular training climb for runners, bikers, and hikers. We’ll finish the day running around the Section 16 loop with a focus on downhill running skill development.
DAY 3
Manitou Springs
Mileage: 15-20 miles
Elevation Gain: 3500-6000 ft
Time Range: 4-6 hrs
Brief Run Description: Be ready for some rolling hills today. We will run through the scenic Red Rocks Open Space via the Intemann Trail with views down into Manitou Springs and Garden of the Gods. To top things off, we’ll tackle the infamous Incline before descending back into Manitou Springs via the Ute Pass Trail. The undulating terrain will be a great place to practice measuring out your effort on a variety of grades.
Movie night at CTS Office: We will be viewing some running classics and enjoying some casual Q and A time with the coaches before a final big day of aerobic development.
DAY 4
Cheyenne Cañon - 5/27/2024
Mileage: 25-30 miles
Elevation Gain: 3500-6000 ft
Time Range: 5-7 hrs
Brief Run Description: Today is the crown jewel of Colorado Springs trail running. The best trails and the best views, not to mention the toughest running day. Starting in North Cheyenne Cañon Park, we’ll climb to the summit of Mt Rosa, and then take the epic descent down Seven Bridges Trail. While a challenging run, this is a great opportunity to test the tips and tricks developed over the week.
Afternoon: Clean up and athlete departure after the final meal.
