A High Mileage Endurance Camp Designed To Jump-start Your Season
The 2023 Tucson Spring Training Camp is tailored for intermediate and advanced cyclists and will feature high mileage training over a variety of terrain. From the imposing figure of Mt. Lemmon to the sprawls of Saguaro Cacti, expect to be treated to incredible views all week. Tucson is a world-class training destination with cool mornings and moderate afternoon temperatures over the winter months. Many professional cyclists come here to train this time of year, so don’t be surprised to see some flying by us while out on the road!
This year's camp will feature professional mechanic support and training file analysis with a CTS coach. We will meet each day in the CTS conference room for training presentations, and data recall.

Camp Itinerary
DAY 1
CHECK-IN DAY - 2/13/2023
Check-In Time: 3:00pm
Where: Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa 245 E Ina Rd, Tucson, AZ, 85704
Check-in is from 3 pm-5 pm at the Westward Look. Bring your bike with you to hand off to our mechanic, receive your camp schedule, SAG bag for the week, as well as a complimentary CTS jersey. At 5 pm we will do some athlete and staff introductions before eating dinner.
Dinner: catered in CTS Conference Room at 5:30 pm
DAY 2
GATES PASS
Mileage: 65 miles
Elevation Gain: 2500-3500 ft
Time Range: 3.50-4.00 hrs
Brief Ride Description: For our first ride of camp we will head to the west side of Tucson, climbing Gates Pass and then descending over the top for a loop around Saguaro National Park West before turning back for home.
Lunch: catered at CTS Conference Room post-ride
Dinner: catered at CTS Conference Room at 6:30 pm
DAY 3
PISTOL HILL LOOP
Mileage: 70 miles
Elevation Gain: 2500-3000 ft
Time Range: 4.00-4.50 hrs
Brief Ride Description: Today we will head down towards Saguaro National Park East, skirting the outside of the park, and climbing Pistol hill around Colossal Cave Mountain Park.

DAY 4
MT LEMMON PREVIEW
Mileage: 40-50 miles
Elevation Gain: 3000-3500 ft
Time Range: 3.00-3.50 hrs
Brief Ride Description: Athletes will have a chance to preview the lower slopes of Mt. Lemmon today, which will be a great opportunity to get a feel for the climb and establish a pacing strategy.

Dinner: catered at CTS Conference Room at 6:30 pm
DAY 5
ORO VALLEY
Mileage: 30-40 miles
Elevation Gain: 1000-1500 ft
Time Range: 2.00-2.50 hrs
Brief Ride Description: While today isn’t a “recovery day” we will tone things back in preparation for summiting Mt. Lemmon on the final day. We will roll a shorter group ride on the North side of Tucson around Oro Valley.

DAY 6
MT LEMMON
Mileage: 65-80 miles
Elevation Gain: 5500-8000 ft
Time Range: 4.00-6.00 hrs
Brief Ride Description: The crown jewel of Tucson, today we will finally summit Mt. Lemmon. Athletes should put into practice the strategies and knowledge they have picked up throughout the week and will have an opportunity to either make it to the 13 mile mark of Windy Point or to travel to the summit of Mt. Lemmon at mile 21 depending on their pace.

Dinner: catered at CTS Conference Room at 6:30 pm (Final Dinner)
Camp Conclusion Description: Our camp will conclude with the summit of Mt Lemmon. We will have one final lunch and dinner to celebrate a week of extraordinary riding. Please get bike packing and shipping details to our mechanic as soon as you can after our final ride to expedite the shipping process.
