Mari Holden Coach

CTS Announces Newest Coach: 6x National Champion, Olympic Medalist, and World Champion Cyclist Mari Holden

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(February 12, 2019, Colorado Springs, Colorado) — Olympic medalist, World and National Champion, UCI team director Mari Holden is joining CTS as one of the company’s newest coaches. A CTS-coached athlete during much of her racing career, Holden recently graduated from the rigorous CTS Coaching College and is studying Long Term Athlete Development in a joint program with the University of Delaware and the US Olympic Committee (ICECP) in preparation for her expanded services in personal coaching and is now accepting athletes.

During her 18-year racing career, Holden was named Junior Triathlete of the Year (1991) and won a combined six National Championships, in both the road race and time trial, a silver medal at the 2000 Olympic Games, and the World Time Trial Championship in Plouay, France. Since retiring as a professional athlete, Holden has remained instrumentally involved in cycling as a team director for the UCI Women’s Team Sho-Air TWENTY20, helping guide the team and its athletes to impressive results both nationally and internationally.

While Holden adds invaluable real-world racing experience and the unique perspective as a UCI team director to the CTS coaching staff, she has dedicated the time and effort to learn the science and art of professional coaching.

“With Mari’s background, immense success, and dedication to the sport over the last 25+ years, we are very fortunate she chose to join CTS as a coach,” said CTS Founder and CEO Chris Carmichael. “Many elite athletes retire from competition and move on to coaching relying entirely on what has worked for them, but Mari expanded her coaching knowledge to meet the demands of the CTS Coaching College and proved she’s ready to deliver the highest standard of coaching we demand here at CTS.”

“I am excited to be bringing my coaching knowledge and experience to CTS. I believe my passion for sport, as well as my years of performance coaching experience allow me to provide the motivation and guidance needed to allow athletes to achieve and even exceed their goals.  I look forward to expanding my coaching with CTS,” said Holden.

Mari Holden will be based out of CTS’ training center in Colorado Springs, Colorado and is currently accepting athletes.
