Test your ultrarunning readiness at high altitude in Colorado's premier trail running destination. This intensive Memorial Day camp is strategically timed before peak ultra season to assess your fitness, refine your skills, and build the confidence needed for your biggest goals.
Based in Colorado Springs beneath the towering presence of Pikes Peak, you'll tackle high-mileage training runs across diverse mountain terrain while adapting to altitude conditions that will elevate your performance at sea level. CTS Coaches provide real-time instruction on technical skills, pacing strategies, and nutrition management during three fully supported training runs ranging from 8-25 miles with up to 6,000 feet of elevation gain.
This isn't just about accumulating miles; it's about intelligent preparation. Daily post-run analysis sessions and skill-focused presentations ensure you absorb key lessons while building lasting connections with fellow ultrarunners. The camp culminates with an epic long run through Cheyenne Canyon's most spectacular trails, giving you a true test of your readiness.

DAY 1
CHECK-IN DAY - 5/22/2026
Check In Time: 5:00pm
Where: CTS Athlete House
Arrival: Welcome to the Ultra Running Camp! As you arrive at our Colorado Springs base, you'll be greeted by our friendly CTS coaching staff and fellow campers.
We'll kick off the camp with a welcome session where introductions are made, and you'll meet the coaches and participants who will be sharing this incredible experience with you.
We'll provide an overview of the week's schedule, routes, and itinerary, offering a detailed briefing on what to expect in the days ahead as well as including a presentation and discussion on Rate of Perceived Exertion and how it pertains to having a successful camp experience. This is also a great time to ask questions, gather information, and start building connections with your fellow runners. We'll enjoy a relaxed welcome dinner, allowing everyone to mingle and share their excitement for the adventures that lie ahead. Get ready to embark on an unforgettable ultra running journey!
Special note on the routes: Each day, we will break the athletes up into separate groups based on ability level. Each group will be out on the trails for about the same amount of time but will do slight variations of the route.
DAY 2
BEAR CREEK - 5/23/2026
Mileage: 8-15 miles
Elevation Gain: 2000-3500ft
Time Range: 3-4.5hrs
Brief Run Description:
Starting from the CTS Office, we’ll transport athletes to Bear Creek for a warm-up before tackling High Drive, a favorite training climb for runners, cyclists, and hikers alike. We’ll conclude the day with a run around the Section 16 loop, emphasizing the development of downhill running skills.
DAY 3
MANITOU SPRINGS - 5/24/2026
Mileage: 10-18 miles
Elevation Gain: 3500-6000ft
Time Range: 3-5.5hrs
Brief Run Description: Get ready for a day of rolling hills! We’ll explore the beautiful Red Rocks Open Space via the Intemann Trail, enjoying stunning views of Manitou Springs and Garden of the Gods along the way. To elevate the challenge, we’ll take on the legendary Manitou Incline before making our descent back to Manitou Springs via the Ute Pass Trail. This undulating terrain offers the perfect opportunity to practice pacing and effort management across various grades.
DAY 4
CHEYENNE CAÑON - 5/25/2026
Mileage: 12-25 miles
Elevation Gain: 3500-6000ft
Time Range: 4.5-6.5hrs
Brief Run Description: Today is the highlight of Colorado Springs trail running, featuring the finest trails and breathtaking views. We'll start in North Cheyenne Cañon Park, traversing through various climbs the park has to offer before enjoying the exhilarating descents down Seven Bridges Trail and the Columbine Trail. Although this run is challenging, it’s the perfect opportunity to put into practice the tips and techniques we've developed throughout the week.
