If you’ve signed up for an epic cycling event in 2017, you better show up prepared. This training camp is designed to stretch your limits; it’s a three day road cycling training block that will push your fitness to a new level. Whether you’re targeting a multi-day CTS Bucket List event like the Amgen Tour of California Race Experience or a 1-day challenge like the Dirty Kanza 200, this camp is your opportunity to put the necessary miles in your legs.

You can’t hide poor fitness on multi-day rides or even huge 1-day events. And poor group riding skills and bike handling will compound any weaknesses. Improve your fitness and your skills with 3 long days of riding. Our professional coaches provide feedback and instruction to improve skills and hone performance. Fully supported rides, professional mechanics and daily power file analysis enhance your experience.

Wonder if you’re qualified for a CTS Bucket List Event? The best way to earn your spot on one of our teams is to spend time working with our coaches. This three-and-a half day camp welcomes intermediate to advanced riders looking for long training days and professional instruction. Due to the demanding nature of the routes, we highly recommend that your bicycle be equipped with a 12-28 cassette, and/or a compact crankset.

  • Daily training sessions with Carmichael Training Systems Coaches
  • Professional Mechanics
  • Use of PowerTap power meter
  • Daily power analysis with CTS Coaches

  • Two dinners and three lunches

Add-On Option:

Eat. Sleep. Ride. Repeat.

Three long days on the bike is a big challenge, so we make sure to take great care of you off the bike. Three lunches and two dinners are included with this camp and you’ll be treated to fresh, nutritious ingredients and enjoy dinners from some of the best local restaurants. Since you’ll be riding many more hours than you normally do at home, you will also have access to recovery tools like Normatec compression boots. When you’re not on the bike we encourage you to relax as much as possible and learn about training, nutrition, and recovery during seminars led by our professional coaches.

Explore the Best Routes in Central California!

Santa Ynez is a small town located in Santa Barbara County, near the Los Padres National Forest and just inland from the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Quiet roads and beautiful scenery await the cyclist who is ready to get back out on the bike for the 2017 season. The area is not only famous for its abundant riding routes, but is well known for great restaurants, vineyards, country inns and exceptional wine tasting rooms.

The rides during this camp are big endurance training rides with instruction from professional coaches. This camp will include a ride to Jalama Beach, a ride that includes the iconic climb of Figueroa Mountain, and a long route through the vineyards and ranchland of the Santa Ynez Valley. Our goal is for you to go home tired and more skilled and confident on your bike. Our professional coaches will divide the camp into groups based on riders’ skill and fitness levels so everyone is challenged and no one is overwhelmed.

Camp Itinerary

  • Day 1 – Check-In

This arrival and check in day at CTS Santa Ynez.  After dropping off your bike and a brief check-in process, you’ll join the CTS coaching staff and fellow riders for a gourmet dinner and a preview of the week ahead.  If you’d like to add any lab testing or a bike fit to your camp, it’s best to arrive before 2 pm on this day.  Registration is from 3 to 5:30 pm at our office in Santa Ynez.

  • Day 2 – Jalama Beach

Today’s endurance ride focuses on group riding skills as we head towards Jalama Beach.  Many consider the ride to Jalama to be the most beautiful in the area, and the views as you crest the final rise to the coast are amazing.  This is a technically challenging route with a deceptive amount of climbing, and as part of the Epic Endurance camp we’ll be adding extra miles and extra climbs on to the normal Jalama route.   As with all the days, we’ll be right around 100 miles of total riding today, and there is lots of riding to come!Lunch and power data review is at CTS, and there is the option for a sports massage.

  • Day 3 – Santa Ynez Valley

The endurance ride today focuses on long miles with lots of hills.  We’ll spend the day riding the canyons of the Santa Ynez Valley.  Lots of climbing and descending await as we spin through the vineyards, ranchland and mountains of California’s Central Coast. After lunch and reviewing the morning’s ride data you’ll again have the option for massage, followed by a group dinner.

  • Day 4 – Figueroa Mountain

We save the hardest ride for last at Epic Endurance Camp – Figueroa Mountain! The technique fundamentals, pacing strategies and nutritional tips you’ve learned the previous days will all help you conquer this extremely challenging “hors catégorie” climb. It’s a mountain that has tested some of the world’s best cyclists, but our coaches and support staff will help you conquer it too. But we’re not done after Figueroa. We have lots of more miles to go through the challenging and scenic canyons of the Santa Ynez Valley. A final data recall with coaches and one more group lunch caps off a great block of huge miles which will boost your fitness for any endurance challenge in the year to come.

  • Day 5 – Bonus Day

New for 2017 is the option to extend your camp for a 4th day! Add one more fully supported 5+ hour ride with our coaches for a chance to push your fitness to new heights!
