This Camp is for Athletes Over 50 Who Want to Learn How to Stay Strong, Fast, and Healthy in the Years Ahead
Join us for our brand-new Grand Master All-Inclusive Cycling Camp, designed specifically to address the performance needs of athletes over 50. Our camp will be nestled amidst scenic routes and tranquil landscapes in Tucson, Arizona and will offer a rejuvenating retreat where you can come together with fellow cyclists and learn how to optimize your training and overcome the effects of aging.
Our CTS Coaches and experts will help guide you through training for performance and longevity after 50 with informative talks and presentations. Here are some of the topics we'll cover:
- How aging affects the body's response to training
- How to reduce body fat and regain/maintain muscle mass
- Considerations for maintaining bone density and bone health
- Hormonal changes and other health-related markers
This camp will be packed with lots of great training talks but it'll also be packed with lots of riding on our favorite routes in the Tucson area. We will also provide professional mechanic support, ride food and hydration products from our partners, and training file analysis with a CTS Coach. We will meet and ride from the host hotel daily for meals, training presentations, and post-ride analysis.

DAY 1
CHECK-IN DAY - 2/17/2025
Check-In Time: 5:00 pm
Where: Homewood Suites 4250 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ 85718
Arrival Description: Check in is from 5 pm at the host hotel. Bring your bike with you to hand off to our mechanic, receive your camp schedule, SAG bag for the week, as well as a complimentary CTS jersey. At 6 pm we will start athlete and staff introductions before eating dinner.

DAY 2
GATES PASS - 2/18/2025
Mileage: 65 miles
Elevation Gain: 2500-3500ft
Time Range: 3.5-4hrs
Brief Ride Description: Welcome to the first day of our cycling camp in beautiful Tucson! We kick off our journey with an exhilarating ride to the West side of Tucson. Our route takes us up the iconic Gates Pass, a challenging but rewarding climb that offers stunning views of the surrounding desert landscape.
After reaching the summit, we'll enjoy a thrilling descent into the scenic Saguaro National Park West. This loop around the park allows us to immerse ourselves in the unique beauty of the Sonoran Desert, with its majestic saguaro cacti and diverse wildlife.
Once we've completed the loop, we'll head back to our starting point, feeling accomplished and ready for more adventures in the days to come. This ride is the perfect introduction to the diverse terrain and breathtaking scenery that Tucson has to offer.

DAY 3
MT LEMMON PREVIEW RIDE - 2/19/2025
Mileage: 40-50 miles
Elevation Gain: 3000-3500ft
Time Range: 3-3.5hrs
Brief Ride Description: On the second day of our camp, athletes will have the exciting opportunity to preview the lower slopes of the legendary Mt. Lemmon. This ride is designed to give you a taste of the climb, allowing you to familiarize yourself with the terrain and establish a pacing strategy for the ascent.
Take in the stunning vistas, feel the changing gradient under your wheels, and use this ride to gauge your effort and refine your climbing technique. This is an essential preparatory ride that will boost your confidence and readiness for the days ahead.

DAY 4
MT LEMMON - 2/20/2025
Mileage: 65-80 miles
Elevation Gain: 5500-8000ft
Time Range: 4-6hrs
Brief Ride Description: The crown jewel of Tucson awaits us today as we set our sights on summiting the majestic Mt. Lemmon.
The ride begins with a steady ascent, where you'll have the opportunity to either reach the 13-mile mark at Windy Point, offering stunning panoramic views, or continue to the summit of Mt. Lemmon at mile 21, depending on your pace and endurance.
As you climb, remember to apply the pacing strategies we've discussed, stay hydrated, and keep a steady rhythm. Reaching the summit of Mt. Lemmon is a monumental achievement, a testament to your hard work and dedication. Celebrate your success at the top, take in the breathtaking views, and relish the sense of accomplishment that comes with conquering one of Tucson's most iconic climbs.

DAY 5
ORO VALLEY ENDURANCE MILES - 2/21/2025
Mileage: 30-40 miles
Elevation Gain: 1000-1500ft
Time Range: 2-2.5hrs
Brief Ride Description: While today isn’t a "recovery day," we will tone things back in preparation for summiting Mt. Lemmon on our final day. Our ride will be a shorter group ride on the North side of Tucson, exploring the beautiful Oro Valley.
This scenic loop offers a more relaxed pace, allowing us to enjoy the picturesque surroundings and recharge our legs for the big climb ahead. We'll roll through the rolling terrain and quiet roads of Oro Valley, taking in the stunning views of the Santa Catalina Mountains.
This ride is designed to keep us engaged and active while giving our bodies a bit of a break. It's the perfect opportunity to enjoy some camaraderie, fine-tune our bikes, and prepare mentally and physically for the challenge of Mt. Lemmon.

DAY 6
PISTOL HILLS LOOP - 2/22/2025
Mileage: 70miles
Elevation Gain: 2500-3000ft
Time Range: 4-4.5hrs
Brief Ride Description: Today's adventure takes us to the eastern side of Tucson, as we set our sights on the beautiful Saguaro National Park East. We'll begin our journey by skirting the perimeter of the park, where we'll be treated to panoramic views of the vast desert landscape and its iconic saguaro cacti.
Our route then takes us towards Pistol Hill, a challenging climb that promises to test our strength and endurance. As we ascend, we'll be rewarded with breathtaking vistas and a sense of accomplishment. Continuing on, we'll circle around Colossal Cave Mountain Park, an area known for its rich history and stunning natural beauty.
This ride offers a fantastic mix of scenic views, challenging climbs, and thrilling descents, making it a memorable part of our cycling camp experience. Prepare to be inspired by the natural wonders of Tucson as we conquer this exciting route together.
Camp Conclusion Description: Our camp will conclude with the Pistol Hill Loop. We will have one final dinner to celebrate a week of extraordinary riding. Please get bike packing and shipping details to our mechanic as soon as you can after our final ride in order to expedite the shipping process. Your lodging is included through tonight 2/22/2025.
