Fluid Recovery Partners With CTS To Offer Athletes Better Recovery Nutrition
Fluid Recovery Partners With CTS To Offer Athletes Better Recovery Nutrition
(February 28, 2018) Fluid Sports Nutrition and Carmichael Training Systems have announced a partnership beginning immediately that will give CTS coaches, athletes, and camp participants an opportunity to recover better with Fluid’s award-winning post-workout Recovery drink mix. Partnering with CTS helps Fluid reach a greater number of athletes who can improve their post-workout recovery by using the effective Fluid Recovery formula.
“CTS is one of the top coaching and training organizations in the world, and we couldn’t be happier to sign on as their Official Recovery Partner. Fluid Recovery will help CTS athletes train harder and recover faster, and both companies are equally dedicated to improving the performance and health of their athletes while pioneering new methodologies in endurance sports. It really is the perfect fit,” said Fluid Co-Founder and CEO Richard Smith.
What an athlete consumes after a workout is an important aspect of their day-to-day recovery and overall training program. As part of the partnership, CTS Camp and Bucket List athletes will recover after workouts with the best-tasting Fluid Recovery drink mix, which contains highly digestible proteins, is fortified with L-glutamine, and contains a blend of replenishing carbohydrates. Together, these ingredients work to kickstart the recovery process and facilitate adaptation. CTS Athletes will be able to choose from four different flavors including Berry Treasure, Tropical Escape, Chocolate Wave, and a dairy free/soy free/vegan Cinnamon Vanilla option.
“We aim to deliver the absolute highest-quality products and services to our athletes, and when it comes to post-workout recovery nutrition, that means Fluid Recovery,” said CTS CEO and Founder Chris Carmichael. “Many of our camps and Bucket List Events include demanding back-to-back long training days that require our athletes to recover as much as possible. Fluid Recovery is going to play a key role in helping them recover better and perform well day after day. On top of being effective, it’s a great tasting product which makes it all the better.”

Based on the above 2 comments, it appears their are conflicting views. I think best is to do your own reasearch and determine what matters to you. Their is no doubt that revocery is needed, by some source. I read an article that had scientific backing, and it said that milk was the best recovery drink, dispelling a myth, that adults don’t need to drink milk. The article stated all the benefits and what milk had to offer, as a recovery drink. So their is something to think about. Perhaps, CTS needs to reply here in the comments of their findings and research, of “fluid” as to why they chose this product. As suggested above, “business partnerships” may not be in the best interest of the end user, in this case the athlete.
If you notice, these products contain Stevia. As you are aware, Stevia is a non-nutritive sweetener. It has been associated with many undesirable side effects; one of which is increasing appetite for sugar. As well there are some cardiac and metabolic effects that have been reported. I developed an arrythmia, possibly related to the Stevia in the Hammer nutrition drink I had been using at the time. Stevia is also a diuretic. You can review some of the side effects here

but I can provide scholarly articles if necessary.
I had this discussion with Dr Alan Lim (now of Skratch Labs) at the last Interbike in Las Vegas. He agreed that the use of these sweeteners (Stevia, Monk fruit, etc) in many sports drinks is not only unnecessary (improve taste??? why not add sugar) but could be harmful. As well, the article states (I did not confirm) that “the FDA do not recognize stevia leaves and crude extracts as safe for consumption. Increasingly, stevia supplements and extracts are being found to contain counterfeit ingredients, primarily artificial sweeteners that are linked to known health risks.”
I was a CTS athlete for several years and went to a spring training camp. At that time you used GU products which then did not contain these non-nutritive sweeteners.
No amount of these sweeteners (I avoid using the term artificial after a heated argument with the owner and the medical consultants of Hammer) belongs in any athletic drink. I am very disappointed that CTS has chosen to associate with this drink.
Thank you CTS for bringing awareness to these products. I’m often skeptical of endorsements that have business arrangements attached. But, I have tried many of the products you endorse & so far you haven’t put your name behind one that doesn’t work! I’ll be trying this one next!
