John Croom
CTS Senior Coach
“My coaching relies on communication and dedication with my athletes. I communicate and work with the athlete 1 on 1 to adapt to any mental and physical hurdles one may have. My goal is to build the confidence of the athlete while increasing peak fitness, understanding that sometimes the mental component is the biggest limiting factor.”
Coach Bio:
Originally from Rock Hill, SC I moved to Colorado Springs, CO, in 2017 to train at the Olympic Training Center. I studied at Mars Hill University in Sports Recreation Management with minors in Psychology and Business. I started cycling to lose weight. I was 305lbs at my heaviest and endurance sports changed my life – first starting in triathlons I fell in love with cycling and made the transition to track cycling. Now a 7 time National Champion.
I love challenges – all my life I have been told I am too big and I wouldn’t be able to race at a high level. I believe anyone can achieve the goal they set with proper guidance and drive.
I started working with CTS in 2019 as a part of the Athlete Services Team which would later increase my curiosity and love for coaching. I have coached athletes from gran fondos to stage races, all the way to 12 and 24-hour mountain bike events.
