A 90 minute transfer to Chamonix; Europe’s alpine mecca and home of the UTMB. Once settled into our comfortable hotel we’ll get out for a short run to shake out the legs from travelling.
If you are already in Chamonix by the 27th, congratulations!!! Simply meet up with the crew at the Hotel at 2:00 PM local time (hotel TBD).

DAY 2

CHAMONIX RUN

Description: Chamonix is a mountain runner’s paradise. Accompanied by a local guide and runner extraordinaire Blaise Verien as well as CTS Coaches Jason Koop and John Fitzgerald we’ll head out the door for some of the most beautiful views of Mont Blanc running from the Plan de l’Aiguille tunnel to l’Aiguille de Midi an absolute ‘must’. Time and weather permitting we’ll also run over to the Pointe d’Helbronner offering probably the most remarkable view of Mont Blanc.

DAY 3

Vertical gain- 8900 feet

DAY 4

LES CHAPPIEUX TO COURMAYEUR

Second day of our run around Mont Blanc takes us from Les Chappieux to Courmayeur, Italy where we’ll spend the night. The Italian side of Mt Blanc will be stunning and there will be options on this day to extend the route if people are feeling good. This route will deviate from the UTMB course as we get closer to Courmayeur.
Total distance- 15.5 miles
Vertical gain- 4300 feet

DAY 5

COURMAYUER TO CHAMPEX-LE-LAC

Mileage: 28.1
Elevation Gain: 8894 FT
Elevation Loss: 10305 FT

Total distance- 27 miles
Vertical gain/loss- 7900 feet

DAY 6

BACK TO CHAMONIX

Description: Today we’ll finish off the UTMB route from Champex-le-lac back to Chamonix with plenty of time to get some rest and food before the 6 PM start of the UTMB. We will follow most of the UTMB route proper, with some small deviations to avoid the boring road sections (aren’t we nice).
After the start, there will be plenty of viewing options for the race which our guides can take you on or you can travel with John/Koop. We will go over these during the camp.
Total distance- 24 miles
Vertical gain/loss- 8200 feet

DAY 7

FOLLOW THE RACE

Description: We’ll want to get out early to out and watch the pros as they run through the Italian part of the UTMB. Trying to keep up we’ll cruise around in our sag vehicle to see them at the Cold e la Forclaz and once again as they enter the Chamonix valley.

DAY 8

TRANSFER TO GENEVA AIRPORT

Transfer to Geneva airport for a mid-morning departure…or an additional day in Geneva visiting the UN, cruising along the lake, and absorbing a most international city.
