Our Flagship Ultrarunning Camp Focused On Big Miles, Big Vertical And Event Day Preparation

Join CTS Premier Coach Jason Koop in Colorado Springs, CO for a high mileage, big vertical trail running camp that you will not forget.  Colorado Springs makes an ideal location for high altitude running in the early season due to its terrain, weather and location.

This camp is a great opportunity for any trail runner to get their season started on the right foot. The last day of the camp will be a challenging 40-50k run though the beautiful trails in the shadows of the Pikes Peak.

This camp is fully supported with aid stations and the CTS coaching staff. Because of high demand, spots are limited to the first 30 athletes.

Note: This camp has sold out early every year, so if you want to make it into this camp lock in your spot early!

Camp Itinerary

DAY 0

CHECK-IN DAY – 5/24/2019

Where: Koop’s house

Check-in Time: 5:00PM

Arrival: Please plan on arriving by 5:00 PM to get checked in. Dinner will begin at 6:00 PM

Dinner provided by Real Athlete Diets, introductions and camp overview at 6:00 PM

DAY 1

PROPER TEMPO INTENSITY & EFFICIENT UPHILL TECHNIQUE

Mileage: 12- 15
Elevation Gain: 2000-3000 FT
Ride Time: 3 – 4 Hours

Description:

Today we will perform 3X10 min Tempo intervals, a tried and trusted CTS workout. After the Tempo intervals, we will proceed to a downhill clinic focused on effective, safe and speedy downhill running. There will be one aid station during this run.

OPTIONAL Clinic- 3:00 PM Proper use of poles led by Adam St. Pierre.

Nutrition for Ultrarunning events @ 6:00 PM

Dinner at @ Koop’s house 6:00-8:00PM


DAY 2

STEEP RUNNING SKILLS AND NUTRITION STRATIGIES

Mileage: 12-15
Elevation Gain: 2000-3000 FT
Ride Time: 3 – 4 Hours

Description:  Today we will put your new found skills to practice on in the foothills of Pikes Peak. If you have ever suffered from a sour stomach, this day is for you. Particular attention will be paid to your nutrition plan. A CTS coach will evaluate this plan at the conclusion of the run and make recommendations specific for you and your event. There will be one aid station during this run.

‘The One’ piece of advice you’ll ever need @ 6:00 PM

DAY 3

LONG RUN – PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

Mileage: 25-30
Elevation Gain: 5000 – 6500 FT
Ride Time: 5 – 6+ Hours

Description: oday you will be challenged with a big mileage and big vertical day around Mt Rosa. Topping off at 11,500 feet, your lungs will sear and your quads will shake. Our coaches will be with you every step of the way to encourage you and give you a kick in the shorts when you need it. There will be two aid stations during this run.

Camp Conclusion:

This camp will conclude at approximately 4 PM on Monday May 27th. We encourage all athletes to fly out on Tuesday, May 28th. The traffic to Denver International Airport on Memorial Day weekend can add 90 min to your commute. If you must leave on Monday, we encourage you to fly in/out of Colorado Springs (COS) in the evening.
If you are staying in Colorado Springs on Monday, consider yourself lucky. We will have an BBQ Monday night at Koop’s house.
