It’s hard to beat the Santa Ynez Valley’s challenging roads and warm spring weather for early season miles. CTS has been holding Spring Training Camps in this popular cycling destination for over 15 years, and many top pros continue to train on the same roads.

At the All-Inclusive version of our traditional Spring Training Camp, you will be treated like a professional cyclist in every way: from daily massages, to professional mechanical support, to individual power file analysis with our coaches. This camp concludes with the popular Solvang Century, a great addition to a week of excellent early season miles.

Camp Itinerary

DAY 0

CHECK-IN DAY 3/4/2019

Fly into Santa Barbara Airport where you will be picked up by CTS Staff.

2:00-5:00PM – After dropping off your bike and a brief check-in process, you’ll join the CTS coaching staff and fellow riders for a gourmet dinner and a preview of the week ahead. If you’d like to add any lab testing or a bike fit to your camp, it’s best to arrive before 2 pm on this day.

Dinner: The Santa Ynez Inn @ 6:00-7:30PM

DAY 1

CTS FIELD TEST/BIKE SKILLS OR ALUMNI RIDE

Mileage: 25- 60
Elevation Gain: 2000-3500 FT
Ride Time: 3 – 3.5 Hours

Description: New camp athletes will complete the CTS Field Test and a bike skills session before concluding the day with some endurance riding.  Our camp alumni will complete the Drum Canyon Loop with a Field Test of their own.

DAY 2

MANNY’S RIDE (JALAMA BEACH)

Mileage: 42-84
Elevation Gain: 3000-6000 FT
Ride Time: 3.5 – 5.5 Hours

Description: A long endurance paced ride that takes us to scenic Jalama Beach.  Expect quite country roads that include a surprising amount of climbing and some technical descending.

Dinner: On Your Own Tonight


DAY 3

FIGUEROA MOUNTAIN

Mileage: 42-60
Elevation Gain: 4500 – 5500 FT
Ride Time: 4 – 5 Hours

Description: The Fig Loop is never easy! It’s a challenging mountain ascent that climbs for nearly 10 miles and 3500 ft. The scenery is spectacular along the climb and the descent is beautiful and challenging.

DAY 4

SANTA YNEZ VALLEY ENDURANCE MILES

Mileage: 15-35
Elevation Gain: 500 – 1000 FT
Ride Time: 2 Hours

Description: The ride is a comfortable pace today as we prepare for tomorrow’s Solvang Century. But we still ride for a few hours around the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley.

DAY 5

THE SOLVANG CENTURY

Mileage: 100
Elevation Gain: 4500 FT
Ride Time: 4.5 – 7.5 Hours

Description: This is one of the old century rides in California and a beautiful tour through the Santa Ynez and Santa Maria valleys. The route is plenty challenging but still fast, and you’ll have great CTS support along the way.

Breakfast: The Santa Ynez Inn/For Friends Inn @ 6:00-6:30AM
Lunch: CTS @ 1:00-3:00PM
Dinner: The Santa Ynez Inn @ 6:00PM

Camp Conclusion: Our camp concludes after the Solvang Century with a final group dinner at the Santa Ynez Inn. Lodging is covered through Saturday night and we will provide shuttles to the Santa Barbara airport on Sunday morning.

Arrival: We recommend you arrive by March 5, 2018. Camp registration will be from 3:00-5:30 PM on March 5, 2018.

Departure: The conclusion of the camp will be March 10, 2018 around 8:00PM.

Airports: Santa Barbara is approximately 35 minutes from Santa Ynez. LAX is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes from Santa Ynez (allow more time during high traffic periods).

Airport Transportation: If you’re flying into the Santa Barbara Airport on March 4th and leaving on March 11th, we can arrange a shuttle service to/from your hotel/CTS in Santa Ynez.

If you are shipping your bike, please make sure it arrives at CTS by March 2, 2019 so we can have it built and prepped in time for camp.

After you sign up, please let the camp manager know if you would like us to pack your bike for shipping at the conclusion of the camp, we will do it free of charge.
