With bike fit, experience counts, and CTS coaches perform hundreds of road, mountain bike, and triathlon fits every year, with elite athletes from the Discovery Channel and US Paralympic teams to amateur racers and novice riders.
Our highly-trained coaches use the latest infrared motion-capture technology from Retul to create a 3-dimensional picture of how you actually ride. And since optimal bike fit is about more than just angles, we spend a lot of time working with you to incorporate information about your goals, your strengths and weaknesses, flexibility and skeletal characteristics, and how you ride. Lactate threshold is one of the most important physiological markers for training and success in endurance sports. By measuring the lactate levels in blood samples taken during a ramping cycling test performed on an SRM Ergometer (Colorado Springs and Asheville) or Velotron (Tucson), we can determine your maximum sustainable performance capacity. The data collected during the test (lactate, heart rate, and power) will be used to establish your lactate threshold, as well as specific heart rate and power training intensities to help you improve your sport-specific performance.

Testing Mini-Camps:
Half-, One-, and Two-Day Options Available.
The more time we can spend with you, the more you’ll learn while you’re here. These mini-camps are the same as the options we put together for NASCAR drivers, World Champion triathletes, and one particularly well-known Tour de France Champion. All options include a battery of performance and nutritional testing, as well as plenty of time for in-depth consultations and actual training sessions so you really understand what your test results mean for your training and nutritional goals.

Half-Day (Cycling/Triathlon Focus):
The most productive 5 hours you’ll ever spend on your athletic goals. In half a day we’ll tackle the essential parts of the Performance Testing packages, including Resting Metabolic Rate, Body Composition, and Lactate Threshold. Plus, we’ll analyze your performance tests with you, determine your optimal training intensities and have you provide us with a 3 day recall of your dietary intake so our CTS Registered Dietician can give you a Nutritional Analysis and Consultation. And we’ll pick up the tab for breakfast too!
One-Day (Cycling/Triathlon Focus):
You’ll be amazed at what you can learn in one day, and though you’ll be busy, we won’t rush you through a single step. There’s plenty of time to do everything listed in the Half-Day option, plus a Bike Fit, a ride with a CTS Coach(es), and we’ll pick up the tab for breakfast and lunch, too.
Two-Day (Cycling/Triathlon Focus):
This is how the pros do it. They come in and do Resting Metabolic Rate, Body Composition, Lactate Threshold, a Bike Fit, and an easy ride on the first day. Then they come back the second day for an intense training session the following morning to help confirm the training ranges and positioning from the first day in a real world setting, and an easy recovery ride in the afternoon. Along the way, there’s plenty of time for detailed discussions about the data collected, training intensities, and more. We’ll follow up with you when our CTS Registered dietician finishes your nutritional analysis and gives you a consultation on your nutritional needs. We’ll take care of breakfast and lunch on both days, leaving it to you to select the dinner and hotel of your choice.
Of course these are just 3 examples of what we can offer. You can design any testing camp you like simply by selecting the individual tests that you have the most interest in. Our coaches are also happy to discuss which options may suit your needs and goals the best as well so that you get the most out of your time with us!
