Triple Bypass Training Camp

2009 Header

June 5-8, 2011

Now in its 23rd year, the Triple Bypass is a classic Colorado cycling event. There’s no doubt about it, whether you’re an experienced racer or a new enthusiast, this 120-mile journey over three major mountain passes is a challenge for everyone who rolls across the start line. At Carmichael Training Systems, we know that optimal preparation leads to more fun, faster times, and happier athletes. We’ve partnered with Team Evergreen to create a training camp experience designed to improve your performance at this year’s Triple.

Nearly every cyclist we work with wants to improve his or her ability to ride uphill, and with three major mountain passes and more than 10,000 total feet of climbing – at altitudes up to nearly 12,000 feet – improving your climbing skills and fitness are key to having a successful Triple Bypass experience. This camp will teach you key techniques that help riders of all sizes and shapes excel when the road tips toward the sky. Over the course of the camp you will ride the 3 major mountain passes that define the Triple Bypass. Each rider will be fully supported and coached as you ascend and descend Squaw, Loveland, and Vail passes. Our presentations will answer all of your nutrition, equipment, and preparation questions to make you confident and successful on the big day.

Camp 1 will be a reconnaissance of the NEW Eastern route. Starting in Avon and riding to Evergreen conquering the infamous three from a new angle.

Camp 2 will be a reconnaissance of the Traditional Western route. Starting in Evergreen and riding to Avon dominating the classic triple.

Both Camps will be based out of Dillon, Colorado and we will shuttle everyone to the start of each day’s ride, and back to the hotel.

Our two-and-a half day Triple Bypass Camps welcome riders of ALL LEVELS, from beginners to advanced. We highly recommend that your bicycle be equipped with a 12-27 cassette, and/or a compact crankset, for this camp.

The weather during this time of year can vary from 50-85 degrees, and rain showers can sometimes pass through at higher elevations. Be sure to come prepared for all weather conditions. The camp will be based out of Dillon, Colorado in the center of the Triple Bypass Route.

Participants in the CTS Triple Bypass Training Camp will receive a complimentary entry into the 2011 Triple Bypass event. You get to decide between the traditional Western route, or the inaugural Eastern route. You must attend the camp in order to receive your entry.
