I've had so many athletes achieve success on and off the bike. It's rewarding for me to work with athletes of all levels and help them achieve their goals. |
Collegiate road racing for Whitman College. The fun atmosphere and competitive nature of the sport had me hooked after the first weekend of road racing. |
Mountain biking and specifically ultra and stage races. |
My philosophy as a coach is to understand each individual athlete and cater to their unique needs as a person and athlete. My goal is to find an athlete’s passion for the sport and build upon it. Though each athlete is unique I will treat all athletes with equal respect. I will take into account each athlete’s individual personality, needs, goals, and dreams. To create well rounded endurance athletes who are athletes for life it is important to first establish a strong endurance base. My goal is to help each athlete reach their potential through hard work, focus and smart training. As a coach I will provide each athlete with the training tool they need to perform to the best of their ability. |
I love being a coach, I care about each one of my athletes and their success in endurance sports and life. I try to provide accountability, motivation and guidance. |

I love pushing myself and achieving something I didn't think was possible. You always seem to push yourself to a new level in a competition. |
I've really enjoyed getting in back country skiing and learning how to telemark ski. |
La Ruta (as twisted as that sounds). |
Leadville Trail 100 in 2011. Every thing went extremely well for me that day, I stuck to my nutrition and hydration plan, I had good legs and good luck. I actually enjoyed the race and blew my goal out of the water. |
I've had a few...probably when I injured my knees. I’ve torn my ACL in both of my knees, one ski racing when I was in high school and the other playing flag football in college. It took a lot of hard work and determination to come back from those surgeries and return to competitive sports. It taught me that you can achieve your goals if you work hard. I also got into cycling after my second ACL surgery and the reason why I’m a cycling coach now! As far as a bad cycling race experience, I would say Leadville in 2010. I didn’t follow my nutrition plan and paid for it. I bonked so hard on Columbine and paid for it the rest of the race. I couldn’t function for days. I came back in 2011 smarter and more prepared and took almost an hour off my time. |
I do better when I stay calm and relaxed. I go over my race plan, nutrition, hydration, bike, etc. |
Spend time with friends and family. I like to ski and play in the snow in the winter. I like to travel, cook and play with my dogs. |
