It's not the wins or podiums that come to mind when I think about coaching accomplishments. I take the most pride in working with my athletes to set goals and when they accomplish them it makes my day.

Began racing on the road at age 15 after watching Breaking Away and American Flyers.

I'm a time crunched athlete. I've had to work pretty hard to adapt my training to fit my limited free time. I really enjoy helping other athletes with time restrictions reach their goals.

I'm pretty detail oriented overall and this shows in my coaching style.

Good communication, goal development, and a well thought out training program.

Mountain biking is clearly my favorite but I like hilly road races and crits. In the off-season you'll find me downhill skiing with my kids.

Raced the Pro NORBA XC circuit during college and fulltime for two years afterwards.

My 40th birthday is approaching and I'm thinking about suffering through an Ironman Triathlon for "fun".

Downieville Classic cross-country race in California. The race starts out with a grueling 8 mile climb of 3,000 feet followed by a 5,000 foot, 17 mile descent. The race is a point to point and the terrain is the most technical I’ve ever raced on. In 2006 I was the first over the climb but flatted on the descent a few miles from the finish and ended up 4th.

Winning the 24-hours-of-Cannan in West Virginia.

While in high school I was winning a cross-country race, and then I missed an obvious turn heading. The race was on an open field and everyone saw me going the wrong way. They were yelling to turn around but I kept on going…

I like to visualize how I want the race to unfold. This works better than loud music for me.

Hang out with my kids doing things like camping, skiing, and hiking. But I tend to spend a great deal of time working on my house and yard.

Ice Cream

Carolina style pulled pork sandwich with slaw and sweet tea.

I would like to go back to New Zealand but this time I want to spend a month traveling around both islands

I’m a neat freak. I can’t stand a dirty house.

No. I've found I do much better if both the front and rear wheels are on the ground...
