Mountain Bike Skills Clinic – Level 2 – Brevard

Camp Description

The CTS Mountain Bike School 2 is the next step in improving your off road riding fun! After successfully completing School 1 riders are ready to move to the next 3 skills of riding. Direction Control, Pressure Control, and Timing and Coordination.

Day 1

The first day will be broken up into two sessions. During the morning session the group will cover the 4th and 5th essentials of successful, fun and safe mountain bike riding. Those being Direction Control and Pressure Control. While sounding very basic these are the essential components of building skills and understanding maneuvers off road. Once we have thoroughly worked up an appetite we will dine on local foods and fuel up for the afternoon ride. During the lunch break, we will be performing a lecture on pacing and how it can impact the skills and fun during a ride in the woods.

For the afternoon ride, we will do a fast warm up and review of the morning skills. Following the warm up and review we will head out on the trail and apply the morning skills.

Day 2

Day two of the mountain bike skills camp will take day one and build on what was learned adding the next component of successful off road riding; Timing and Coordination..

The afternoon session is all about putting the weekend together. More trail riding will be involved but with less stopping to work on sections and more linking parts of the trail together. After ripping down the final descent we will smoothly ride sections that used to cause us trouble. But most of all we will have FUN!

Brevard, NC

This mountain bike camp will be held in our location in Brevard NC. Brevard is a small town located in Western North Carolina, nestled between the Pisgah National Forest and the DuPont State Forest of the Appalachian Mountains. Known as the “land of waterfalls”, Brevard is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Brevard is not only famous for its abundant outdoor activities, but also plays host to a vibrant downtown scene with art galleries, terrific restaurants, theatre, the Brevard Music Center, and Brevard College.

Brevard, North Carolina is one of the top vacation destinations on the East Coast, and for good reason.  Situated just east of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and adjacent to the Pisgah National Forest, Brevard is the gateway to thousands of acres of outdoor playground. And with a wide variety of restaurants, fine hotels, and cultural and natural sights and events through out the year, Brevard is a great place to come for a weekend, a week, or the rest of your life.

Further, Asheville is just as stone’s throw away… Known for its beautiful mountains, abundant outdoor activities and rich local history Asheville has been named One of the Top Ten Outdoor Towns (Outside Magazine) and one of the 10 Great Adventure towns (National Geographic Adventure).

Temperatures in July can vary from 60-90 degrees at mid-day, and rains are likely.  Please come prepared to ride in all weather conditions.
