Colorado Springs makes an ideal location for high altitude running year round with ideal terrain, weather and location.

This camp is a great opportunity for any trail runner to get the season started on the right foot, put in a big block of training and learn tips and techniques from the best coaches in the business. The last day of the camp will be a challenging ~50k run through the beautiful trails in the shadows of the Pikes Peak.

Camp Itinerary

DAY 1

CHECK-IN DAY

Where: CTS Headquarters 6365 Corporate Drive Colorado Springs, CO 80919

Check-in Time: 12:00-6:00PM

Arrival: Camp Registration at the Headquarters of CTS. With immediate access to great running trails from our office, feel free to shake out the legs with a short run on your own after completing your check in.

DAY 2

PROPER TEMPO INTENSITY & EFFICIENT UPHILL TECHNIQUE

Mileage: 15- 20
Elevation Gain: 2000-3000 FT
Ride Time: 3 – 4 Hours

Description: Meet at Koop’s house- 2110 Hercules Drive. Colorado Springs, CO 80906. We’ll have a light breakfast with cereals, oatmeal, bagels, and coffee. During breakfast, we’ll have a short athlete and staff introductions and a camp overview. Today’s run will be 15-20 miles, 3:00-4:00 hours with 3X 10 min Tempo intervals. The focus of the intervals will be on achieving proper Tempo intensity and efficient uphill technique. After the intervals, we’ll have a downhill clinic at Section 16 downhill.

Lunch: ON YOUR OWN @ 12:30-1:30PM

DAY 3

STEEP AND TECHNICAL TRAIL RUNNING

Mileage: 25
Elevation Gain: 2000-3000 FT
Ride Time: 3 – 4 Hours

Description: Today we will focus on steeper terrain and more technical running skills. We will also work to apply the ultra endurance specific nutrition techniques we discussed in the previous day.

DAY 4

MOUNT ROSA LOOP

Mileage: 25-30
Elevation Gain: 5000 – 6500 FT
Ride Time: 5 – 6+ Hours

Description: This classic route goes to the top of Mt Rosa at 11,500 feet and features panoramic views of Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak. We will again focus on proper nutrition throughout the long run.

Breakfast: ON YOUR OWN @ 6:00-8:00AM

Camp Conclusion: After finishing the classic Mt. Rosa loop our coaches will discuss the events of the day, while answering any remaining questions you might have. Then we will say our goodbyes!
