Three days of precise training leading up to an Olympic Distance Triathlon

At this camp you will take the time to focus on the small and crucial details of triathlon, and put the lessons from camp together in an actual race: the Olympic distance Desert Tri. Open Water Swim techniques and tips, faster transitions, and race specific pacing on the bike and run are just a few of the things we’ll review and practice before the race. If you have other races coming later in the summer, take this opportunity to learn how to improve the details and how to pace for your event. No stone left unturned! This camp promises to be a very unique experience under the watchful eyes of top our professional triathlon coaches.
Athletes and coaches will stay together in a luxury rental house and enjoy freshly prepared and nutritious meals from our onsite chef. This camp will push your skills, pacing and mindset to the next level while providing a glimpse into the lifestyle of professional athletes. Camp concludes with the coaches breaking down your Desert Tri race performance and leaving you with strategies and techniques to employ throughout the rest of the 2017 season.

Back-to-back training days crescendo into the Desert Tri Olympic Distance race, where you can put the lessons from the week together under the guidance of our top coaches. Take the training and education from this camp to the rest of your races this season!

Heading into its 18th year, Desert Triathlon is the perfect race for both the new or beginner triathlete, and the experienced triathlete looking to shake off their winter rust. We’re situated on the calendar as the perfect warmup to several longer distance races, including the 70.3 in Oceanside.” – Desert Triathlon

Camp Itinerary

  • Day 1 – Wednesday

    This arrival and check in day at our team housing. After dropping off your bike and a brief check-in process, you’ll join the CTS coaching staff and fellow riders for a gourmet dinner and a preview of the week ahead. Registration is from 3 to 5:30 pm followed by a team Introduction Dinner.

  • Day 2 – Thursday

    Our AM session starts on the bike with a field test so the coaches can guide you to proper pacing for race day. After the test we’ll head out on some quality miles leading to a transition run
    Our PM session will be in the pool where we’ll video your swim and work technique and open water tips.

    The evening lecture will break down your field test results and swim video analysis with the coaches.

  • Day 3 – Friday

    The AM Session will be learning the art of transition. We will be practicing the perfect transition set up and spending the morning teaching you what it takes to quickly adapt from the bike to the run. Through a series of bike to run efforts, this will be a challenging workout morning with multiple opportunities to perfect and optimize your transition set up.
    PM Session will be at the race start! We’ll swim at the Desert Tri Race location practicing sighting, drafting and open water racing technique. We’ll also practice some tips to staying calm and controlled during race starts. After our swim we’ll head out on the bike and preview the race course at race pace intensity.

  • Day 4 – Saturday

    AM Session – There’s a SPRINT race happening at Desert Tri. We’ll be either racing the sprint race in warm up for tomorrow or creating relay teams to practice pacing for race day. Our coaches will be on course to provide feedback and instruction during the legs of the sprint race.
    PM Session – Back at the Desert Tri Race start for more open water work.

  • Day 5 – Sunday

    DESERT TRI RACE DAY – Team CTS will fully support your day. We will make sure your bike is tuned and ready, and all fluids and food is prepped and ready for you. Your coaches will review your race day strategy and be ready to assist with any last minute race day needs. This is an amazing opportunity to race in a fully supported manner. Team Lunch is after the race to tell all our race stories, and we’ll review race data before heading home.
