About Jim Rutberg

Jim has been a part of Carmichael Training Systems since its beginning. Originally an athlete personally coached by Chris Carmichael, and later an employee, he learned the theory and practice of Carmichael Training Systems first-hand.

Jim's experience and education served him well as a co-author of two books with Chris Carmichael. In 2003, they coauthored "The Ultimate Ride". In 2004, Carmichael, Rutberg, and Kathy Zawadzki wrote "Chris Carmichael's Food For Fitness: Eat Right to Train Right", which reached number six on the NY Times Bestseller List for Nonfiction books.

A cum laude graduate of Wake Forest University, Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Exercise Science. In addition to working as a coach, Jim’s role at CTS has expanded into software development, content management, and business development. He has competed as a racing cyclist at the Elite National level throughout the United States. In 1999 he competed internationally at the Tour de Okinawa as a member of the United States National Cycling Team. A native of Philadelphia, PA, Rutberg lives in Colorado Springs with his wife, Leslie.
